Clashes in the Border Princes

War is once again upon the Border Princes, with a number of battles reported.

Skaven forces have been very active in the region, though the newly appointed Skaven warlord has yet to really prove himself. Attempts to encroach upon the territory of others has repeatedly been beaten back by Wood Elf, High Elf and Imperial forces.

A Skaven force in the Crippled Hills was rooted out by the army of foreign warriors that arrived in the area only a year ago. Interestingly these mercenaries were seen in discussion with Imperial Sigmarite forces, so perhaps they have joined the old alliance of Man and Dwarf. Ho long will this last, it is wondered, and what if a better offer is received from other forces?

The Ulricans, recently arrived in the area, have been quick to establish their territory - driving off a force of High Elves approaching the area around Aldwin in the north in a close fight. The Elves withdrew, but both sides had only taken light casualties.

It seems High Elf reinforcements are beind shipped in from Ulthuan, so expect their presence to be felt more in the coming months. Though it should be noted a military attempt to demand tribute from their Wood Elf cousins was violently rebutted, the guardians of the forest unwilling to accept any sort of compromise slaughtered the encroaching army.

The fate of the Border Princes is starting to take shape.
Aldwin Saved By Imperial Host

The beleaguered defenders of the Imperial city of Aldwin have been spared the wrath of the greenskin forces by a mighty host of Imperial troops, the likes of which have not been seen before.

A delegation from the city of Middenheim, lead by Graf Boris Todbringer himself, met with the Sigmarite church leaders currently claiming ownership of the Imperial settlers in the Border Princes. A truce between the factions of Ulric and Sigmar was met, united by a common cause to clear the lands of foul creatures. It was decided that the most pressing issue was that of Aldwin, in the northern mountains.

Aldwin has held out against tribes of Orcs and Goblins for years, but no reliable trade routes have ever been set up. Attempts at supply lines are always cut by marauding greenskins, and the city is too far away from Freihafen to station regular troops. With increased miltary presence in the Border Princes, the Empire were able to finally ride out to clear the area of the Orc tribes. The army assembled from both Ulrican and Sigmarite forces was mighty, but it needed to be to wipe out the Greenskins.

As the armies clashed the air was filled with the crack of muskets and the roar of cannons. The Orcs paid a terrible price against the Empire guns, including the death of a warlord and his mighty war-wyvern. The Orcs prayed to their gods to return damage upon the humans, but for the most part the men were protected with their faith and the spells were dissipated. As the battle went on the Empire targeted the enemy shamans so that their own prayers to Sigmar could be answered unimpeded.

Brave men went sent forwards to draw out the deadly goblin fanatics, which then spiralled across both battle lines. The danger averted, the brave knights of the Empire charged. Foul magics wiped out one unit almost to a man but Helmut Brecht, Warrior Priest, charged from the fallen unit to cause havoc amongst the Orc chariots on the Empire's left flank, whilst the Knights of Sigmar's Flame crashed through the Goblin lines.

To the right flank the forces of Ulric fought furiously against two mighty giants and Orcs atop boars. The Knights of the White Wolf did Middenheim proud and many a disgusting goblinoid was crushed beneath their horses' hooves. The Ulricans were lead by Boris Todbringer, directing his men from atop an Imperial Girffon.

In the centre of the battle, the High Priest Jebediah Greud atop his mighty War Altar, bravely charged into the heart of the Orc army. He called out the Orc warlord to fight, but the cowardly greenskin cowered from the might of Sigmar and Jebediah had to be content with slaying the warlord's personal shaman. The altar was swamped by Orcs but further Imperial troops were unable to reach the horde. As over 60 Orcs and Black Orcs hacked the altar to pieces Jebediah fought furiously and held up the Greenskins as the rest of his forces dealt with the other Greenskins. The numbers finally took their toll and Jebediah fell, a true martyr. Some reports have blamed the Ulricans for not sending aid, though this could not be substantiated.

The battle was obviously turning the Imperials' way. Orcs and Goblins turned and fled the battle, cut down by pursuing knights. As evening drew in the Imperials rode in triumph to Aldwin, a city it is believed the Ulricans will claim as their capital.
