Ambush in the Forests
A small exploratory force of High Elves made its way up the river Trebleca and entered the forests at the base of the Black Mountains. It is believed that they were part of an effort to triangulate the source of the magical vortex currently emanating from somewhere within the Border Princes and believed that they could negotiate passage through the forests with their kin the Wood Elves. Whoever sent them was obviously unaware of another High Elven expedition who had visited the area earlier in the summer in search of valuable dragon eggs, moving on only after razing several elven settlements looking for clues. The expedition paid for their ignorance as the secretive defenders of the woods gave them no chance to plead their cause, instead ambushing the expedition and driving the survivors from the forests.
